A decade or so ago men had a very limited choice in the range of swim wear whether it was for the beach or surfing or the swimming pool. You could generally choose from either Speedos or boxer shorts. Not very reverting! But nowadays you have a much bigger choice including briefs, hot pants, boxer shorts, board shorts, thongs, trunks, and swimsuits.

Board shorts are probably the most popular choice amongst men for swimwear because they are so comfortable and easy to wear on the beach and in the water, not to mention they are so fashionable and trendy. There are many great brands for boardshorts including Animal, Quicksilver, Rip Curl, and O’Neill, all have a massive range of different styles and designs. Board shorts are great for surfers and other water sport enthusiasts.

Hot pants are another popular option of shorts for guys. The name may suggest that only bodybuilders or dancers wear them but they are actually worn by quite a lot of guys for swimwear due to how comfortable and fitting they are. They are the same length as boxers but instead of being quite light and airy they are tight and stretchy. Depending on your preference some men find these easier to wear than boxers or board shorts. Hot pants are quite common amongst swimmers.

Thongs are also available for men as well women, and are very popular amongst male dancers. They are pretty much the same style as female thongs except the front is larger to fit the male figure. Speedos are another favourite for guys, otherwise known as trunks. They are the swimwear version of y fronts. Trunks and Speedos come in a variety of colours and designs, just like with board shorts the designers go all out with bright colours and loud shapes, well it is summer time after all.
